ABOUT THE OWNER

Thank you for visiting my store. My name is Alejandra and I am the owner of GalapagosTagua, I am currently located in beautiful Florida, but I am originally from Ecuador.

GalapagosTagua was born by the love to my home country, mixed with my entrepreneurial spirit, and my need to help artisans from Ecuador, to continue with a tradition that comes from generations, while receiving the means to achieve a dignified livelihood.

It was towards the end of 2016 that GalapagosTagua started business on Etsy – please check our 5 star rating – and thanks to the support of all of our dear customers, we have been growing and have expanded into our own online store.

I personally work one on one with the Artisans in Quito, Ecuador. If you have any suggestions please do not hesitate to contact us. Please visit our store, and help us make a positive impact in the life of our artisans and their families.

ABOUT TAGUA NUT

Tagua nut, also known as corozo, is a seed from a palm tree, that mainly grows in the northern part of South America (Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela).

Tagua similarity with elephant ivory has made it become known as “Vegetable Ivory”. Exposed to the tropical sun, the seeds dry out within 1 to 3 months, depending on their content of water. Once they have dried, they are manually peeled, sliced, carved into several shapes, depending its use. Tagua has a natural white color, and to dye it only natural ingredients are used, then it’s polish until it reaches its characteristic shine.

A lot of beautiful items are created with Tagua, like buttons, jewelry, chess pieces, piano keyboards, umbrella handles, among others.

Welcome to our shop, we hope you get delighted with the unique, beautiful jewelry we offer … Proudly from Ecuador, to the world!
